“ RED ROSES"

                                                 WELCOME TO
                             FEBRUARY

Teatime is dedicated to the color red .
One of my hobbies is photography ... I particularly love
                                     to capture flowers.

                           RED ROSES make me HAPPY

I took these pictures at the SHOGUN Gardens in
 Iwakuni, Japan.

Wandering  into a SHOGUN reality is like discovering  a gateway into botanical heaven ...
but first you have to get past the gate.

PLEASE COME IN

Everything is handmade.

Of course, many gardeners dedicate hours of loving  maintenance in honor
of the
gardens
and the gifts they bring to us all.

Snapping pictures seems so insignificant in comparison to

the momentuous  task spent
cultivating and caring for the plants.
Most of the roses are vintage, so the aromatic scent in the air was intoxicating, especially in the red and pink ones.

It is nearly impossible to describe the scent or beauty of a
rose.
"A rose by any other name would not smell as sweet"
(William Shakeskpeare)

" Oh my luve's is like a red, red rose,
that's newly sprung in June:
My luve is like a melody that's sweetly
played in tune.
As fair thou art my bonny lass,
So deep in luve am I;
and I will luve thee still my dear,
tho a' the seas gang dry."
(Robert Burns)

OMG... I almost forgot ... It's time for tea.

Old Country Rose tea cups are so simple and yet so elegant.
I have a setting of six with the cream and sugar.

I have  collected black china sets with roses
since childhood ...What do you collect?

There now, let's take out two cups for tea.
One for you and one for me.

I do hope that you like "Mighty Leaf "mint tea, it's probably the only bagged tea that I truly enjoy.

In the meantime, I had a lovely Japanese napkin that I made into a paperdoll for Valentine's Day.
YES, I still play with paperdolls ... Don't you ?

My mother designed evening gowns and wedding dresses, as a result, I have inherited her love of drawing gowns on paper.(ie) paperdolls. It's a happy past-time.!!!

Though I very seldom wear red, who could resist trying on a beautiful gowns like this one
which was displayed in the Kyoto hotel lobby.

While looking into old boxes, I just happened to find some romantic literature from my college days and thought that they would be  quick and fun to re-read.

" My Beloved, Classic Messages of Love",  fit perfectly into the Valentine's Day theme. It is a small book that contains  various intimate love letters and passages from famous people like, Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Robert Browning, Cassanova,
( that one made me laugh),  Napoleon to Josephine
 and( below)
Ludwig Von  Beethoven to his Immortal Beloved... truly a tragic love affair.

"Though still in bed my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then saddly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us "
" Love me--- today-yesterday-what tearful longings for you-you-you-my life-my all---farewell----Oh continue to love me ----never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved L.."

SOUNDS LIKE TRUE LOVE TO ME !!!

You may view or order the movie, " Immortal Beloved" on Amazon or Netflix.

THANK FOR THE VISIT LADIES

                                      May you all receive
          RED ROSES for VALENTINE'S DAY

What beautiful roses and the black tea cup and saucer with red roses is beautiful as well.

I bought 2 bareroot Climbing Blaze red roses, but they won't be blooming by Valentine's day. They do have a lot of new growth though.

Have a lovely Valentine's day ~ FlowerLady

What a fabulous post, Zaa. The garden is unbearably beautiful -- so peaceful and serene. I can only imagine the hard work that goes into it. And I love your Royal Doulton girl. She's very beautiful. She reminds me a good deal of one of my mom's we gave to one of her good friends after mom died -- her friend had been a great source of support. I still have most of her Doultons.

The roses, the teacups, the setting -- all stunning.

The Royal Doulton is called Priscilla and she is very, very old, but one of my favorites... You should showcase your Doulton at teatime...They are always such pleasant company...like good friends.... This post dedicated to the rose and romantic poems is just perfect! The gardens must have been amazing and the labor to keep the gardens beautiful must be such tedious work. I know from the small gardens and beds we've had through the years. I would love spending time there. The roses are beautiful and so are the black and rose china. I love your pieces and I'm sure you have a beautiful collection. What do I collect, do you have time, LOL. Mostly sets of pretty dishes. Just a few of what I really like. Love the poems and the movie is one of my all time favorites. Love this post!
Happy Valentine's Day Zaa........

Good Morning, Zaa. I LOVE THIS POST! And I have to tell you that this poem by Robert Burns is one of my favorites of all. I have it written down as well. Your porcelain lady is lovely. You have taken some very nice photos of the red rose. Is that YOU in the garden?....it's wonderful, and you should frame the picture! Your black tea cup with the roses is gorgeous. And I see you have other pieces with the same design. Thank you for this delightful post today, Zaa. It made my day. And Yes, I still love paper dolls!

Hello Red Rose ... I'm so glad that you enjoyed the poetry and teatime today ... NO that is not me in the garden that was a
Japanese gardener in Japan... They are always so happy and smiling ( Ha Ha)... I have two different sets of Country Rose... one that is much older than other with just a little different design on the saucers. One is all black and one has flowers circling the plates... so it fun to have a tea party with them. I'm not surprised that you too play with papers...We must be kindred spirits...Big Hugs

Thanks for such a lovely post! It touched my heart as my Mom loved her red roses and my Dad would bring her a single red rose every Friday when he arrived home. He planted so many around the house and they spent may hours tending to them. Feb. 6th is the anniversary of her passing and all she wanted was a single rose on her casket. I cannot see a red rose without thinkig of her love for them. I so enjoyed your tour of the garden and your beautiful pictures. My favorite pass time as a kid was drawing my own designs for my paper dolls which I loved, and I love playing with them now with my Granddaughters. Now, I think I will go get my Mom's red rose tea cup and enjoy a cup of tea. Thanks for the memories!

Dear Nancy... What a lovely story about your parents..such sweet memories and sentiments... My mother's birthday is in February too... so it's also a bittersweet month for me, as she passed at Christmas time... We can, however, still cherish the memories, the love, and the flowers... I'm so happy that came for the teatime tour ..You brightened my day and filled it with sunshine. ...BIG HUGS

Zaa said...

Hey Lauren ...I'd love to pour you a cup of tea in one of the Country Rose teacups, my Friend... I think we all need a little floral therapy during the winter months. ..and ..YES they do still have paper dolls.. but they are mostly like MONSTER HIGH and not particularly my type ( haha)... We should start creating some Granny Paper dolls ( Hee hee)... ENJOY your Valentine's Day ...Hugs

Oh my goodness, the Japanese Gardens are a most beautiful sight. How wondrous to stroll along the paths and drink in the beauty. Your paper doll is exquisite. What a fabulous and beautiful imagination you have! I loved playing with my papers when I was a wee girl.....still do actually. I don't think I have seen black tea cups with gorgeous roses floating on the inside of the rim. Your collection is amazing. I would imagine tea is much sweeter drinking from these pretty tea cups. A most beautiful post. Thank you for putting many a smile in my day.

I love roses as well, particularly English roses, which is what these look to be because of the massive amount of pedals. We used to have a beautiful deep pink, very fragrant English rose climbing up a trellis at our old house. It was a David Austin rose with the name of “Othello.” It’s been seven years since I’ve lived in that house, and I miss those roses to this day. Beautiful photos here.

Zaa said...

Thanks for your kind visit, Heather...SO glad that you enjoyed the roses...Happy Valentine's Day !!!

Zaa said...

Thank You Pattie... Yes, the David Austin roses are sensational and I do believe more fragrant than most... SO glad that you stopped over for teatime... Hugs
