"A SNOWY TEA"

Come in ... out of the cold my Friends.

Pull up a chair and settle in for another relaxing teatime. Today, I have chosen a charming but most controversial little teapot from Staffordshire.

I’m sure you recognize the familiar figure on the pot. It is part of the Sadler collection of Historical Teapots ... Henry the Eight teapot and four of his six wives ... Anne Boleyn, Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves and Jane Seymour are in attendance  ...  the other two wives, I believe, are terribly indisposed.

This is a discontinued, octangular pot that is seven and a half inches wide and six inches high to the top of the gold trimmed lid. It is a small unique two cupper, which I love to use on  snowy days.

Well, with the ‘King" comes his most beloved creature ... Look, who is peeking into my windows ...  Often, a herd of twelve White-Tailed Deer travel down our hills, but this young fellow must have known that it was teatime. Look at that white-tail ... Isn’t he lovely !!!

Sadly, the white-tailed deer sometimes have difficulty surviving winter, particularly if the snow is deep, so I really don’t mind         them staring and nibbling the young shoots in the back bush.

Their wintry visits seem a blessing to me. Should we invite him in for a cup of tea? Chances are that he wouldn’t be too impressed with our brewing bouquet.( Ha Ha)

                                       Come Ladies  ...
Take a gander at what I found in the back of the cupboard.

Don’t you think that the white design resembles the
                                           deer’s tail ?

I must say, that this teaset is a pleasure to drink from, as the cup is very deep and high .... ( Ting-a-ling)...You could ring it like a bell if it was turned upside-down( ha ha)

TEATIME !!!!

No ... This is not your normal pretty looking “ Windsor " pattern. The design has a strong male presence, which is quite befitting for the King Henry teapot and our white-tailed Friend. Infact, I am feeling quite attracted to the white flourishes of energy that electrify this saucer.
It seems to have “ HIGH SPIRIT" like the deer that dashes away, in leaps and bounds.

Nibble, nibble, nibble .... sweet woodland creature ,

while we have a cup of soothing chamomile tea.

I do enjoy the mellow ambience and sweet taste of this tea on such a cold and wintry day.

I was all set to share a book with you, but the wildlife has      completely taken over our teatime ladies ... Maybe we should drink up and go for a brisk walk through the woods!!!

On second thought ... Br-r-r-r ...  Let's stay put and enjoy one another,  a little longer. We can appreciate the view from the inside.

LOOK at that cheeky little face!!! Ha ha

This has been a thrilling teatime adventure and I’m so happy that  you took the time to follow along the snowy
path for a cup of tea with me.

There’s no need to hurry.
 ENJOY your brew
 and
 the scenery.

The sleigh is prepared for your journey home.

Be Happy

Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening
By Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his wood fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

                                           I am sharing with :

How I'd love to look out my window and see deer! I hope they find enough to eat till the snow disappears again and there's grass. The white splotches on that tea cup do resemble the White-tails a bit, don't they. Have a great week!!

Oh my Zaa, I so enjoyed my chamomile tea with you today, and the view outside of the white-tailed deer. The teapot of King Henry and several of his wives (oh dear, the poor others!) was one I have never seen! Your teacup was the perfect choice. Thank you for sharing your fun post today.

Hi again! I will tell Cissy about you using the note idea, but it was my daughter's idea, and Cissy helped write all the family member's notes to me. She is such a sweet child.
Do you have an email to write to you? You're a no-reply comment blogger and I can't email you. I so appreciate you letting me know that you'll be using the balloon idea!! xx

What an unusual looking tea cup. And that tea pot is so charming. Is that Jane Seymour, the actress? She's my all-time favorite. The white-tailed deer is lovely, and she has a sweet look on her face. She looks very different than the deer we see here. That's sad to hear that the white tailed-deer has a hard time surviving winter. They are such magical animals, aren't they? You live in such a beautiful area outside.

This is such a delightful post today, Zaa.

Lovely Sadler teapot, Zaa. The unusual shape adds to its charm, if not the subject. The white tailed deer is beautiful. The poor things have to forage anywhere they can find a bite to eat. Unfortunately they are in breeding in our state and this has led to unfortunate offspring. I agree your lovely Windsor teacup and saucer reminds us of our tea guest! It's nice to "meet" a new friend that likes all things tea as I do as well. I have a couple Sadler teapots as well. One is the Charles Dickens Christmas teapot and the other is a traditional teapot with roses. ♥

Now all I see is the the deer tail on your lovely teacup! A few years ago, I deer wandered into the vestibule of our local grocery store. Perhaps he wanted a cup of tea?

Your photos of the white tailed deer are just amazing. The tea looks wonderful, too.

Hey Jess .. Ha Ha ...I always think of the Actress too...I’m sure she could have been one of the Queens sipping from that teacup. Isn’t it interesting that your deer look so different ..there are so many beautiful species. I shall have to do a little research in your area... and YES .. I just adore these woodland creatures in a magical way too... Sometimes need al little of the woodland magic in our lives... Thanks for the teatime chat and your wonderful company...Hugs

Hmmm. I wonder why they just did the first four queens and axed the last two (one of whom WAS "axed" and the other who outlived him, though she was pushing it at the end. It's a wonderful teapot. I just finished all 750 pages of Six Queens, a historical book on Henry's wives. I could have used this as I was chugging tea on page 595, wondering if I would make it through!

It's a wonderful teapot, Zaa. And a real treasure. So, too, are the beautiful photos of the deer. How lovely!

Dear Martha Ellen .. I enjoyed your historical travel post very much and sharing a cup of tea with you is equally delightful... Yes I am noted for going overboard on tea and teatime china.... The older the better for me.. except in the tea tasting( ha Ha) ....and I also appreciate mother natures gifts ... “ All creatures great and small “. I ‘ve seen the Charles Dickens Christmas teapot... it’s so inspiring .. infact all the Sadler collections are beautiful. How lucky that you have a pretty “ rose” teapot too..Can’t wait to share more teatime travels and tea with you ... Thank You for the kind visit...xoxoxox

Zaa said...

Hey Margie ... You got me laughing because now all I can envisage is you sitting down and pouring the deer a cup of tea ( hee hee)..Thanks for the laugh..Enjoy your day... Hugs

Zaa, what beautiful photos! Much as I love tea and china, today they are overshadowed by your gorgeous wildlife photos. What a sweet face on that deer!

Zaa said...

Thanks for the visit Jeanie... Yes historical books are quite a grind( 750 pages) unless you do have a good pot of tea to get you over some of the literary bumps... however I’m sure you gain fabulous insight into the lives of those women... I sure wouldn’t trade place with them. I too wondered why only four of the queens ... I shall have to do alittle research. Thanks for the inspiration ( ha ha)

What a great post- and I DO see the deer tail in the china pattern--and think it is more a masculine pattern than you usually see on china. I, too, love that cheeky little face! Hope you have a wonderful night- xo Diana

I love that teapot! I saw it years ago in the catalog put out by the BBC. I have been stalking it ever since. Obviously, not closely, or I would have known that it had been discontinued. It is a beauty, and, like you, I like teapots that hold 2 cups. Most of the teapots that I have hold four, and I can’t possibly drink four cups of tea at one sitting. Fun post.

Thanks Pattie... I so enjoy our teatime visits...You and I are definitely on the same page..... Big Hugs
